Inspired by: The Man Who Fell to Earth, Lanvin
I'm not sure whether or not Lucas Ossendrijver named David Bowie's classic fedora from the film The Man Who Fell to Earth as inspiration for Lanvin's Fall 2011 Menswear Collection, but it's easy to see why Tim Blanks had this to say about this collection, "What stood out was how covered up the models were in their layers. Some wore fedoras mysteriously pulled low over one eye (another of this week's irresistible links to a [David] Bowie incarnation—the alien Thomas Jerome Newton in The Man Who Fell to Earth)." Here are a few of the fedora looks Bowie wears in this 1976 film and a few of the many fedoras from Lanvin's 2011 collection, in which Ossendrijver proves they will never go out of style. Side note: The other Bowie link Blanks is referring to is Dries Van Noten and his inspiration from Bowie's Thin White Duke persona from his tour for the album Station to Station.
